@lenadunham : The last few days have been brutal, as we’ve watched a remarkably brave woman be strong armed by cowardly fools who aren’t fit to shine her shoes. I know it’s triggered pain in all of us, each of a different variety, but there is a common thread: shame. Shame is destructive. Shame kills. I have shame about my assaults. I have deep and impenetrable shame about when I’ve allowed my mind to be colonized and I’ve shamed another woman (may I learn from this shame. May I walk in the light. May I honor her, honor women always.) I have shame about speaking up and shame about staying quiet. For me the antidote to shame is connection. Today my brave best friend spoke about her own assault. She’s the coolest, smartest and funniest woman around. May you all hold each other close and remember you are part of a coven. I love you, I really do. 📷 by @mcleanstephenson
