According to @babakazad (who is THE master when it comes to massively scaling a business), it’s all about operational excellence. “If you want to build something scalable and sustainable, you’re going to have to have some sort of machine. And that machine is going to have to operate, and if it’s always operating just because of one person, then your chances of success are much lower. It’s a tough conversation sometimes to say you’re going to take some money from the bottom line, because you’ll need to invest - whether that’s in people, in software, or in vendors - if you actually want to build something, it’s an investment. An investment can be scary, and there’s a risk, but ultimately, if you want some sort of scale, you’re going to have to build a machine.” 🙌 . Business is really hard. There’s going to setbacks, there’s going to be challenges, there’s going to be haters, so you have to be in it for the long haul. Be prepared to do whatever it takes.
