Their park rangers taught me about how the joshua trees have their own fungal networks in their roots and are fundamental to the ecosystem, providing food and shelter for various birds, mammals and reptiles. It's all part of the circle of life, and even the smallest shrub plays a vital part in the preservation of these amazing park sites.
