@katiecouric : As all eyes are on Washington, D.C. and the gathering of white nationalists, here is the havoc they wreaked last year in Charlottesville. PS. I know some of you are upset that I posted this. I think it’s an important reminder that even though there haven’t been many public displays of this kind of vitriol and hate since Charlottesville, these people are still out there. The hour I did for Nat Geo explains how these statues are being used as a rallying cry, just as Dylan Roof used the confederate flag to promote violent racism that led to the murders in Charleston. I hope you all will watch and hear the perspective of Americans who are deeply offended by the version of history that has excluded the experiences of many African Americans. As always, I appreciate your comments. I hope this will be a place where we can have respectful, civil conversations. 🙏🏻
