@katiecouric : #TheBigStory: Senator @corybooker (Democrat, New Jersey) announced this morning he’s running for President. Senator Booker chose the first day of Black History Month to launch his campaign and said, “The history of our nation is defined by collective action; interwoven destinies of slaves and abolitionists; of those born here and those who chose American as home; of those who took up arms to defend our country, and those who linked arms to challenge and change it. I'm Cory Booker, and I'm running for President of the United States.” He joins the most diverse presidential primary field in history - with five women, one gay candidate, a Latino, and two African Americans. As the former mayor of Newark, Senator Booker built a platform and reputation as an “inner city politician.” He drew attention and money to the struggling city of Newark. In the Senate, Cory Booker has been one of the most aggressive critics of the Trump administration. His campaign will be called “Cory 2020” and said it will not accept contributions from corporate PACs and deferral lobbyists. How do you feel about Cory Booker and his candidacy?
