I really want to make sure you and the people you love live the longest, healthiest lives possible. Can you try to call you doctors today and make an appointment if you are 45 or over? Now here’s the drill on insurance. Because the government (The US Preventative Services Task Force) and the GI societies have not yet echoed the American Cancer Society recommendations of a screening colonoscopy at 45, your insurance may not cover it-until you turn 50. HOWEVER, if you’re considered high risk (family history) or you’ve had symptoms, particularly blood in your stool, your insurance should cover the procedure.
