@katiecouric : Tonight is the first night of Passover, the #spring Jewish festival that commemorates the liberation of Jews from slavery in Egypt. I loved this quote from the @92ndstreety’s Rabbi Peter Rubenstein: “For some of us, winter seems to have lingered too long so we’re anxious for springtime. This year the seasonal and religious holidays of Passover and Good Friday are on the same day. Both take a special meaning when so much of the news has been focused on migration. People are fleeing their homelands yearning for safety from violence and devastation and seeking a safer and better life for themselves and their children. I hope the refugees would be in our prayers and minds as we gather around our Seder or Easter tables to recount our own peoples’ stories of redemption and salvation. Best wishes for a chag sameach, a joyful and meaningful festival.” It is a story that celebrates the survival of the Jewish people centuries ago and reminds us of that freedom, dignity, and equality will always defeat hate.
