@katiecouric : Rest In Peace, Lori Gilbert Kaye 💔 Lori was shot and killed on Saturday when she jumped in between her rabbi and the shooter who opened fire at the Congregation Chabad in Poway, California. Lori, who was only 60 years old, was “the example of kindness to the fullest extent” and would bring joy and happiness to members of the congregation. Rabbi Goldstein said, “She was more about giving than taking and she did it with such a smile.” Lori made it a mission to accompany one woman diagnosed with breast cancer to every one of her oncology visits. He added, “She had an amazing spirit to her - an amazing attitude to life.” Lori was attending Saturday services to say a Kaddish prayer for her mother, who died in November. Roneet Lev, a friend of Lori’s and a member of the congregation said “She didn’t die a senseless death, she died advertising the problem we have with anti-Semitism and to bring good to this world…If God put an angel on this planet, it would have been Lori.” She is survived by her husband, and a 22 year old daughter. My heart breaks for her family, and for the whole congregation in Poway. This hate, anti-Semitism and violence needs to stop. #restinpeace #poway
