@aliciakeys : I am black and italian, among other things mixed in. The italian part of me comes from my mother. I remember holding her hand walking down the street —my hand, little and brown and hers pale covered with freckles I would ask her if one day all her freckles would join together and her hand would be brown like mine? I’ve always felt so blessed to be made up of different parts of the world. As I’ve traveled, I’ve loved when people across many cultures find reflections of themselves in me. I love our connection that way. I cherish it. I’m proud of everything I am. I’m proud of being a woman. Most importantly, I’m proud of being a human being, here to love....
