@sophiabush : For me, it’s impossible to reflect on relationships with mothers without reflecting on complexity. So much is tied to our mothers. And there are so many versions of what those ties can mean. While I want to love on my mother today, I want to acknowledge all those other versions of mamas out there. • So... To anyone who this day is hard for... To those struggling to become mothers, those mothers who have lost children, those who’ve lost mothers, I see you. To those with strained relationships with their mothers, or those with strained relationships with their children, I see you. • To my sisters who have chosen not to be mothers, those who are adoptive mothers, and my sisters who are strapped with crippling financial burdens because of how much they want to be mothers, I see you. To my sisters who have miscarried, and thus have future hopes tied to past painful losses, I see you. To the women I know who are pregnant and overjoyed, hoping that the next round of in utero tests come up clear like the last ones, to the mamas of babies with disabilities, to the mamas with sick children, and the children with sick mamas, I see you. • To the single mothers out there who manage to be all things, at all moments, and have more courage than most of us have in our pinkies, I see you. And to the women out there who have raised babies that are not their own, who have loved them like blood and sacrificed for them like family, I see you. • Mothering of any kind, nurturing, care-giving, LOVING. These are hard things. Beautiful things. Often thankless things. You turn love into an action verb. You are alchemists. You are loved. The world is lucky to have you. ✨ #AllKindsOfMothers
