I have spent all day trying to find the words — the right ones — for the events of this week ... Kentucky mere days ago. Bombs sent to the homes of human beings. Pittsburgh this morning. The illusion of “us and them” is killing us. Quite literally. The lie. What I know to be true is that supremacist ideology is a cancer. And what I also know to be true? Real love is ferocious and fierce. Real love says no. And to this kind of hate, I find myself growling “no.” I don’t know what the answer is. I know that it has to do with waking up. With seeing the divine in each every single person before us, and taking that as FACT. Today I’m holding my loved ones close. Today I am holding even more space in my heart for people’s pain and for people’s value. I know we have so much work to do. To undo the sociopathy of our fragmented society. We have to organize and vote and reach across lines and shed light on truth and ALL of it, I know. But for now I’m just holding, holding, holding onto love. I’m making ferocious, mama bear, lioness love my damn mantra and my war cry. This is so awful. This is unimaginable. All of it. And I know we can do the hard work of beginning to suture these wounds. Because I know how damn strong we are and how ferocious our love is. • I love you. All of you. Be good to each other. ♥️
