@katiecouric : I may be far away in India, but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about #WednesdayWomen! Today, I’m shining a light on the beautiful and brilliant @mamacaxx. At the age of 14, Cax was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer and was given just three weeks to live. She went on to beat her cancer, but lost her right leg as a result. Now, Cax uses her platform to bring attention to the need for inclusivity in fashion, body positivity, and to dismantle the perceived image society has of what people with disabilities look like. She owns who she is by incorporating bold colors and bright patterns on her prosthesis. “When I first started blogging, a lot of women amputees were messaging me about how they’d never seen an amputee on social media or anywhere else showing their prosthetics. I think it’s so important to show people who have physical disabilities because there are a lot of people out there who have physical disabilities who buy products and who never see themselves represented in any way, shape, or form.” I had the pleasure of speaking with Cax at the @glblctzn summit earlier this year and I was so impressed by her uplifting positivity!!
