Not only has your involvement in this inspired me to reach out and give all of kids what they deserve but I have continually been inspired by the stories of other teachers around the US. I teach 7th grade English at a title one school in San Francisco. We have consistently implemented whole school independent reading which has had a profound effect on so many students. However, this year we have finally implemented more read aloud time to have shared experiences as a homeroom and continue to build culture and a love for learning. The problem is that it is super challenging to find class sets of books that have protagonists that look and sound like our students. My amazon wishlist is only for a few select books that we would be reading for homerooms as read aloud books to help struggling and apprehensive readers a chance to engage with authentic and interesting texts." ❤️📚❤️
