@whitneycummings : Today I got to visit an accredited exotic animal sanctuary called @lionstigers_andbears outside of San Diego. Exotic animal ownership/breeding is a critical problem and they are one of the few real sanctuaries trying to solve it. I’m learning so much and unfortunately it’s heart breaking. In America, the exotic animal trade is a 20 billion dollar industry. If you’re taking a selfie with a baby exotic animal, chances are it’s future is bleak. No accredited sanctuaries or zoos allow human contact with apex predators. At accredited sanctuaries you can get your selfie without contributing to animal abuse.
