@sophiabush : Nature is my sacred place. It’s the place my lungs and my heart open up. Where my mind gets still and I process my life. It’s the place that makes me understand my favorite poetry more deeply, that renews my feeling of purpose, and that makes me certain that everything is going to be okay in the end. A few days in nature reset everything. I am reminded of magic. I know what beauty is. Truly. • This past week I had a little escape with some of my nearest and dearest. Some of you may remember that last year I got to travel to Alaska with my pals @eddiebauer to talk about conservation, and why we absolutely must take care of our Mother Earth 🌎. This was a reunion. Not a work trip — though helping bring attention to conservation efforts feels more like purpose than “work” to me — but a first of many annual framily reunion adventures. That’s what can happen when you invest in and prioritize goodness for a job. You make friends for life. Friends who will travel to far away places with patchy Wi-Fi at high altitudes and hike with you until you feel like you’re going to pass out from the joy and the lack of oxygen. Friends who will stay up all night drinking whiskey and playing games, waiting for meteor showers to burst through the sky and for the power to come back on. Friends who will put on waders to fly fish, hop in hot springs, and befriend wild horses with you. Friends who will celebrate your highs and hold you through your lows. • The lesson here is the truth behind that @mumfordandsons song ... “where you invest your love, you invest your life.” So my friends, I suggest investing love in good people who love the planet and its forests and streams as much as you do. It’ll enrich your life in ways you can’t even imagine. And this, this dear ones, is #WhyIHike. Want to join?
