The most marginalized members of our community continue to be on the front lines worldwide, fighting to exist in a world that has only accepted *some* of our community. Whilst pride is about "love". It's also about highlighing the stuff that isn't as palatable to the cis straight white masses... It's about the high numbers of young queer people of colour experiencing homelessness in the UK after being kicked out of their homes. It's about black trans women being raped and/or murdered by the same men who want to have sex with us (rest in peace #NaomiHersi). It's about UK media outlets employing anti-trans activists to print bigoted misinformation on trans people to incite intentional public hatred. It's about the fact that more than one in four (27 per cent) of trans young people in the UK have attempted to commit suicide and nine in ten (89 percent) have thought about it. 72 per cent of trans people have self-harmed at least once. We've come so far in 50 years and have so much further to go, but in order to progress we need to be amplifying the voices of the most marginalized. Not glossing over everything with a *love is love* slogan. Pride was started by transgender women of colour, black butch lesbians and queer sex workers.
