It was an honor of a lifetime to travel with @Refugees to the Melkadida refugee camp in Ethiopia where I met with Somali women and girl refugees. Many of them have been living in exile for several years, having fled war and persecution back home. Here, I saw first-hand the resilience of refugees… I was most inspired by women like Aqlima, a single mother and solar technician. It’s a job traditionally done by men, but Aqlima would not let that stop her. Women like her are leading the way -- working to support their families, serving as leaders in the community, role models to their daughters and sons, and never giving up hope for a brighter future. On this International Women’s Day, I am proud to support these women, as well as #UNHCR, the UN refugee agency who are working to find innovative solutions to improve the lives of refugee women and girls around the world. #WomensDay, #IWD2020 #GenerationEquality #IWD2020 #EveryoneCounts #WithRefugees #RefugeeCompact #women #girls #education #innovation #UNHCR

Bravo to @time and @alma.harel who spearheaded this incredible project bringing 100 women in history to the front of our minds. ✨ Looking through these image, remembering these inspiring lives and learning about new ones... I’m so emotional. What a brilliant way to show how important women are to history. That their stories and ideas matter. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. 💯 ⭐️
#MyEcoResolution is to stop eating meat Over the past month @MyEcoResolution has been deep diving into food and farming. So far we have learnt that food production is the single biggest impact humans have had on the planet’s ecosystems to date. Food is responsible for more than 80% of deforestation, 70% of fresh water consumption, is the largest single cause of biodiversity loss, and produces more than 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions (not to mention soil erosion, animal rights, pesticides and packaging). On top of that, 30% of food produced is wasted before it even reaches our plates - this 30% is enough to solve world hunger AND account for the 2 extra billion people expected by 2050. Over the next few weeks we are going to be exploring the solutions and how each of us can take action in our own lives and mobilise our communities to inspire systemic change. Follow the journey via @MyEcoResolution & tell us what you’re doing via message and/or #MyEcoResolution #MyFoodResolution | Video by @timdaukesproducer
I spent 7 years on Scandal surrounded by AMAZING women. A few of us came together (led by our phenomenal director @BellamyYoung) in support of the important work that @CARE is doing around the world to stand up for women everywhere. #WomenEqual
I'm teaming up with @INTERMIXonline, @rockthevote, and some incredible women that I truly admire to celebrate IWD and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. We're asking women everywhere to stand up and register to vote this year by texting the word INTERMIX to 788-683! • Our vote is our power. And this year it’s more important than ever. So much is at stake. When we think back on the progress that’s been made because people have shown up to the polls, I’m amazed. And I’m fired up for what we’ll do next. But let’s look back for a moment ... 100 years ago (mostly white) women won the right to vote. Women voting was of course a milestone, but women of color had to keep fighting discrimination, and laws like Jim Crow, for years to come. In 1972, the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) was placed for before state legislatures with an initial 7 year deadline to acquire ratification in 38 states. It was ONLY ratified in its 38th state (Virginia) in January of 2020!! 86% of Americans polled have believed (for years!) that there’s a law in place requiring employers to pay men and women equally, but we’ve only just ratified the law, and we have to keep our eyes on the process to make sure it goes into effect! • I say all of this to remind us (and myself too) that forward progress can be long road, but if we commit to showing up for each other time and time again, we can ALWAYS get better at taking action, do better for our communities and this planet. So? Let’s make 2020 our best year yet. Let’s make that spinning wheel of progress go a little (or a lot!) faster. Let’s #RockTheVote #Intermix #InternationalWomensDay #Sponsored ♥️✌🏼🇺🇸
